In the past few years there has been a breakthrough in termite detection and control. This method is known as a Termite Monitoring and baiting System or “TMS”. Termites can detect wood on or above soil, and Eastern Subterranean Termites are the most popular here in Texas. Eastern Subterranean Termites are underground nesting termites that live in the soil. You could have several colonies on your property that could go completely undetected for years before being noticed. What do you do if you are worried about having termites but aren’t seeing any evidence of them above ground? This is where the “TMS” come into play.
These Termite Monitoring Systems allow us to detect termites in the ground before they have a chance to make it to your home. Therefore, this system is great for both people that know that they have termites and those that don’t. When foraging termites go in search for food, they will naturally find the station and begin feeding on the wood inside of it. Then, once a month, one of our TDA certified and insured technicians check all the stations on your property for any possible activity inside the station. If activity is found, the station will be baited with a special cellulose-based bait. The termites will then transfer the active ingredient through the rest of the colony.
